Overview

A Kodak Trendsetter unit failed during startup because the focus scan could not lock consistently.

Symptoms

• Intermittent coarse focus failure during startup
• Unstable CRB signal after the laser head warmed up
• Plate output returned to normal after recalibration

Root Cause

The Z focus position drifted after extended use, and optical contamination reduced the signal margin.

Solution

The engineer cleaned the optical path, checked the CRB signal, adjusted the Z focus position, and reran focus calibration until the scan completed normally.
